This attractive chest of drawers is in good solid condition throughout but various areas have been replaced throughout its life, which shows someone loved it enough to preserve it! As far as we can tell the front is original, though the escutcheons are in a contrasting wood and I think they would have been brass originally, and the handles are not original though they suit the piece well. The wood on the top is relatively new but blends with the rest of the chest nicely. I think parts of the drawers and runners have been replaced at some point as it would most likely have had slide runners that fitted into channels in the side of the drawers originally. The feet are replacements.

Condition: As mentioned above, the chest has various repairs/replacements, but these all blend in well and are not at all obvious and are reflected in the price. It is structurally sound and all the drawers run smoothly. There are signs of an old woodworm infestation which seems to be mainly located in the back panel, with a few holes in the drawers as well. We have treated it against woodworm as a precaution.
