A very pretty box with highly intricate geometric decoration, dating from c1900. The inside is bare wood, with the inside of the lid lined with red fabric.
Condition: Overall it is in good condition, with a few tiny little tiles missing here and there which are very hard to spot. There is an area on the lid that has obviously been damaged at some point, but this isn’t noticeable until you look closely. There is a repair to the bottom edge on the rear of the box. I think there has been a repair to the right hand side as the piece of bottom trim doesn’t seem to sit as neatly as the others do. The box has a slight warp to it which means it doesn’t sit quite flat, but this doesn’t affect the lid shutting etc and is more visible from the back - you can see in the photos that the back corner isn’t touching the table. The inner lip that the lid shuts over has losses at the sides. I have tried to show all these in the photos and its small faults are reflected in the price (pristine Sadeli boxes can sell for a lot of money).
Dimensions: The box measures 20.5cm wide, 14.7cm deep and 5.2cm high.
