An 18th century chest of drawers of small proportions c1780, made from beautifully figured pollard or burr oak, with three graduated cock-beaded drawers, boxwood stringing to the top, and standing on bracket feet…

This is a really lovely little chest of drawers, well proportioned and simple in design which lets the beauty of the timber shine. It is small enough to use as bedside chest. It has a moulded edge to the top and pine lined drawers. The handles (while of some age) are not original, and don’t all match exactly, but suit the piece well. Other than the change of handles it appears to be entirely original.

Condition: As mentioned above, the handles are not original - the original handle hole has been plugged and can be seen. There is a shrinkage crack to the right hand side. There is an area of stringing missing on the top. There are a couple of repaired areas to the cock-bead on the drawers. The lock on the bottom drawer is missing and there is no key for the locks. Overall this is in good condition and has a lovely colour and finish.

Dimensions:

Width - 80cm

Depth - 50cm

Height - 76cm
